Senior Technical Support Specialist (SAP Technical/Basis Administrator)

This is an opportunity to join the City of Toronto’s SAP Technical/BASIS Administration team within a certified SAP Customer Centre of Expertise. Reporting to the Manager, SAP & Technical Solution Services, you will support the administration, sustainment, and continuous improvement of the City’s enterprise SAP landscape. You will provide technical leadership and operational support across a broad SAP environment, including SAP S/4HANA Cloud (Private Edition), ECC, GRC, Ariba, SuccessFactors, BW, BusinessObjects, SAP Analytics Cloud, Business Technology Platform, Fiori, Enterprise Portal, Cloud ALM, and related SAP cloud and infrastructure services. Major Responsibilities: The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: SAP Technical/BASIS Administration and Operational Support Provide senior-level SAP Technical/BASIS administration, operational support, and technical leadership for the City’s enterprise SAP landscape, including SAP S/4HANA Cloud (Private Edition), SAP ECC, SAP GRC, SAP Ariba, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP BW, SAP BusinessObjects, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Business Technology Platform, SAP Fiori, SAP Enterprise Portal, SAP Cloud ALM, and related SAP technologies. Support SAP systems and HANA databases across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments, including Sandbox, Development, Quality Assurance, Training, Pre-Production, Disaster Recovery, and Production environments. Lead and support the installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, upgrade, lifecycle management, and technical administration of SAP platforms, databases, cloud services, middleware, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP Cloud Connector, SAP Datasphere, and related infrastructure components. System Availability, Security, Performance and Recovery Monitor SAP system availability, capacity, performance, security, and reliability; identify risks or service issues; conduct root-cause analysis; and implement solutions to maintain stable and effective SAP service delivery. Apply SAP patches, SAP Notes, security updates, vulnerability remediation, certificate lifecycle management, configuration changes, and technical fixes in accordance with corporate change management, cybersecurity, audit, and quality assurance standards. Coordinate SAP system refreshes, backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity activities to support corporate recovery requirements and minimize service disruption. Participate in 24/7 on-call support, as required, to respond to critical incidents and support the availability of highly confidential enterprise systems. Standards, Architecture and Continuous Improvement Establish, recommend, and maintain standards, procedures, guidelines, and best practices related to SAP system administration, technical operations, high availability, security, change management, automation, and lifecycle management. Design and review SAP technical architecture solutions, and provide technical advice and consultation to business users, technical teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to determine requirements, assess solutions, evaluate alternatives, and recommend SAP architecture, integration, security, infrastructure, and operational approaches. Review, assess, and recommend emerging SAP, cloud, automation, monitoring, and enterprise platform technologies to improve service reliability, reduce costs, strengthen security, and enhance operational efficiency. Project Delivery, Procurement and Vendor Management Lead or contribute to SAP technical projects and modernization initiatives by developing project plans, defining technical requirements, coordinating resources, monitoring milestones, identifying risks, and reporting on progress and deliverables. Support procurement and vendor management activities, including the development and review of business cases, technical requirements, Statements of Work, RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, service-level expectations, and evaluation of technical solutions. Provide technical SAP administration support to other City divisions and agencies, as required, in the implementation, sustainment, and operation of SAP solutions. Compliance, Budget and People Leadership Support compliance with applicable legislation, privacy requirements, cybersecurity standards, corporate policies, and internal controls related to confidential corporate and application data. Provide input into assigned budgets and support the monitoring of expenditures to ensure resources are used effectively and remain within approved limits. Supervise, assign, schedule, review, motivate, and train assigned staff and/or project resources, while supporting effective teamwork, high-quality service delivery, continuous learning, accountability, and innovation. Key Qualifications: Your application for the role of Senior Technical Support Specialist 1 (SAP Technical/Basis Administrator) should describe your qualifications as they relate to: Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Technology, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. SAP Certified Technology Associate certification, or an equivalent SAP Technology certification, is considered an asset. Extensive experience as an SAP Technical/BASIS Administrator supporting complex enterprise SAP landscapes in cloud, on-premises, and/or hybrid environments. Considerable experience in the installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of SAP products, including SAP ERP Central Component (ECC) 6.0 EHP8 on HANA, SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Private Edition (RISE), SAP GRC, SAP Business Warehouse (BW) on HANA, SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ), SAP Ariba, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP Datasphere, SAP Fiori, SAP Cloud ALM and/or Solution Manager, SAP Cloud Connector, SAP Data Services/Information Steward, SAP Identity Authentication Service (IAS), SAP Identity Provisioning Service (IPS), SAP Landscape Management (LaMa), and SAP HANA Cockpit. Extensive experience with SAP HANA database administration, including database monitoring, performance tuning, backup and recovery, system refreshes, and problem determination. Extensive experience in capacity planning, system monitoring, performance tuning, and problem determination for a complex SAP landscape in a large, diverse computing and telecommunications environment. Extensive experience in performing SAP system administration tasks in Unix/Linux environments. SuSE (15+) is preferred. Experience in the installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of SAP S/4HANA. At least one full lifecycle implementation of SAP S/4HANA with Fiori deployments is preferred. Experience in SAP integration technologies, including installation, configuration, administration, and monitoring for connections between SAP and non-SAP systems. Experience with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), Integration Suite, API Management, Cloud Connector, Connectivity, and Destination Services is considered an asset. Experience with integration of SAP SaaS solutions with on-premises SAP deployments. Integration with SAP Ariba, SuccessFactors, SAP Datasphere, Salesforce, and SAP Analytics Cloud is advantageous. Experience with the installation and administration of SAP products in virtualized on-premises and hyperscaler environments. IBM PowerVM and Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience is preferred. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT TO DIRECTOR
Major Responsibilities: Performs specialized and senior level administrative tasks; including preparation, investigation, research, review, and the overseeing of projects. ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST TECHNICIAN
Job Summary: Reporting to the Manager, Asset Data, the Engineering Technologist Technician 3 plays a key role in maintaining and improving the Toronto Water Asset Geodatabase (TWAG) through the accurate digitization, interpretation, and management of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure data. This position requires a strong combination of GIS expertise and civil/municipal infrastructure asset management knowledge to translate engineering drawings, service records, and field information into reliable geospatial data within ArcGIS and related systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting infrastructure documentation (e.g., engineering drawings, watermain plans, sewer records, fittings, and appurtenances), digitizing and updating assets in GIS, and ensuring data accuracy and completeness to support operational needs, capital planning, and hydraulic modelling. Working closely with engineers, GIS analysts, and project teams, this role supports data-driven decision-making by maintaining high-quality asset records and providing technical insight into the structure, function, and connectivity of municipal water and sewer networks. Machines and Equipment Used: Various office equipment, mechanical, digital, analogue, wireless computerized equipment and other equipment. Job Functions: Investigates and/or inspects, summarizes, and analyzes information and data from TWAG (Toronto Water Asset Geodatabase), Hansen, and other relevant databases utilizing CADD/GIS tools and Microsoft Office applications, and makes recommendations. Investigates and/or inspects, extracts, summarizes, and analyzes water billing data and information, and makes recommendations. Collects, compiles, reviews, evaluates, and analyzes water, sewer, and stormwater data for input to system modelling and study needs, and prepares reports related to water, sewer, and stormwater and/or Toronto Water unit programs Searches, evaluates, and analyzes existing (or missing) records, notes, plans in response to inquiries and project needs, and makes recommendations. Reads and interprets technical drawings, technical forms such as water service cards and Records of Alterations (ROAs), engineering sketches/notes, water billing data, asset condition rating reports, and consultants project deliverables. Transforms information from sources such as plans/technical records and drawings, water service cards, asset condition rating data including watermain break records and CCTV report, fire flow testing report, records of alterations (ROAs) into Toronto Water Asset Geodatabase (TWAG) and/or other digital data formats. Maintains and updates TWAG asset inventories, ancillary tracking layers such as as-built/redline/record drawings tracking, Records of Alterations (ROAs) tracking, Fire flow testing tracking, data Error Log tracking, and/or other digital data system based data received and data errors/gaps reported, field inspections, and consultant’s digital deliverables such as GIS files. Attends meetings as needed. Corresponds and communicates with internal and external stakeholders as needed. Ensures contractors are performing work in accordance with permits, safety regulations according to tenders and specifications. Operates and maintains a variety of mechanical, digital, analogue, wireless, computerized and other equipment to perform tasks. Prepares and checks data map and statistical data summaries using CADD and GIS tools in response to complaints and inquiries, both internal and external Prepares and edits technical drawings, as applicable. Responds to complaints and inquiries related to TWAG and hydraulic models. Assists with the preparing and updating of SOPs (standard operation procedures), flow charts, work instructions related to TWAG maintenance and hydraulic modelling.
